Duvet covers to dress and adapt your bed
A duvet cover is the textile layer that encloses the duvet filling, allowing you to easily change the look and warmth level of your bed. Unlike a bedspread or quilt, the filling is placed inside the cover and can be changed depending on the season.
At Textura, most of the collection is made from 100% cotton, with options in percale, sateen, jersey and flannel. You will also find styles in 100% linen and blends of 55% linen and 45% cotton.
All our duvet covers feature three internal ties to secure them to the duvet filling and help prevent it from shifting during the night.
What size duvet cover do I need?
Choose the width of your duvet cover according to the size of your mattress and how much drop you want on each side.

To calculate the drop, subtract the width of the mattress from the width of the duvet cover and divide the result by two. For example, on a 160 cm bed with a 240 cm duvet cover:
(240 - 160) / 2 = 40 cm drop on each side.
If the mattress is 30 cm deep, this leaves approximately 10 additional centimetres to cover part of the bed base or tuck the duvet cover underneath the mattress. If you prefer a longer drop, check whether the style is available in a larger size.
The length also varies depending on the finish. Many styles measure approximately 220 cm, while duvet covers with a continuous tuck-in flap are usually around 260 cm long, as they include additional fabric designed to be tucked under the mattress.

Percale or sateen: which fabric should you choose for a duvet cover?
Percale and sateen are two different ways of weaving cotton.
Percale uses a plain weave, where the threads cross regularly one over one. One of the most common constructions in our collection is 180 thread count cotton percale.
Sateen uses a satin weave, which leaves more thread visible on the surface and creates a smoother finish. At Textura, you will find sateen duvet covers in 180, 300 and up to 800 thread count, depending on the style.

What thread count should a duvet cover have?
There is no single thread count that determines the quality of a duvet cover on its own.
In our collection, 180 thread count is one of the most common constructions for cotton and percale duvet covers. You will also find sateen in 300 and 800 thread count, while other materials are assessed differently.
For example, some linen styles have a 108 thread count, while jersey and flannel fabrics are better described by their structure or weight rather than by thread count.

What material should you choose for a duvet cover?
Cotton is the main material in our collection and comes in different constructions, including percale, sateen, jersey, flannel, seersucker and textured fabrics.
You will also find styles in 100% linen and duvet covers made from 55% linen and 45% cotton, combining the characteristics of both fibres.

How do you put on a duvet cover and stop the filling from moving?
First, spread the duvet cover inside out over the bed and place the duvet filling on top, matching up the corners.
Next, use the three internal ties to secure the filling to the cover. Once attached, turn or slide the cover around the filling until it is fully extended.
Distribute the filling evenly into all four corners before closing the bottom. Depending on the style, the duvet cover may feature buttons or a continuous tuck-in flap.
The internal ties help keep the filling securely in place and prevent it from gathering at one end during the night.
How do Textura duvet covers fasten?
Our collection mainly features two types of finish: button fastening and a continuous tuck-in flap.
Button-fastening duvet covers close directly at the bottom. Duvet covers with a continuous flap have approximately 40 cm of extra length, designed to be tucked under the mattress and help keep the bed neatly made.
This also explains why two duvet covers designed for the same bed width may have different lengths.
How can you adapt a duvet cover to each season?
A duvet cover can be used throughout the year; the level of warmth is determined mainly by the duvet filling placed inside it.
You can use a lightweight filling during milder seasons, a warmer filling when temperatures drop, or a 4-season system that allows you to combine layers.
