Setting the table. Laying the tablecloth just right, decorating it with flowers, vegetables or fruit. Feeling the embroidery. Choosing the napkins, striped, embroidered or plain. The tableware.
But the best moment comes after. When the plates are empty, the conversation lingers and no one is in a hurry. The table is no longer perfect, but that is when it is enjoyed the most. We are home.
